Desktop: report an unusable log folder through the logger, ROADMAP (review of #465)

The "no log file" message went through eprintln!, which panics when
standard error is a broken pipe; log::warn! reaches standard error the
same way (the file sink has already given up) and never panics.
ROADMAP: the log file in "Shipped so far" and "Last updated".
